Questions parents ask

Frequently asked questions

Which years and subjects does it cover?

Years 8 and 9 maths and science today, with science covering biology, chemistry and physics. Year 7, then GCSE and A level, are being added year by year.

Does it follow what my child is taught at school?

It follows the Key Stage 3 national curriculum and the order most schools teach each year. Schools sequence topics differently, so pick the topic your child is on in class rather than working top to bottom.

How hard are the questions?

Every topic has three levels. Foundation checks the key facts and methods, Core is the standard expected for the year, and Stretch is written for selective and top-set pupils: multi-step problems, unfamiliar contexts and the GCSE-style reasoning that comes next.

Are these real school test questions?

No. Every question is written from scratch for this site, with a worked explanation of the right answer and of the mistake behind the most tempting wrong one.

What are the videos?

About a minute each: one question worked through on screen, with the method and the mistake to avoid. They sit at the top of each topic, with captions, and work with the sound off.

Can I use this for more than one child?

Yes, up to two. Each child is tracked separately, so scores and weakest topics follow that child rather than being averaged across both.

How do I cancel?

From your account page, at any time. You keep access until the end of the month you have paid for.
