Prepare is run by HAGS CONSULTANCY SERVICES LIMITED, a company registered in England and Wales (“we”). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Questions or requests: hello@preparefortests.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash by our login provider).
- Your children: a first name or nickname and, if you choose, a school year group. Nothing else is needed, and we ask you not to enter surnames.
- Practice results: scores, answers and dates for each practice session and topic, so you can see progress.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We never see or store card numbers; we keep only your subscription status and dates.
If you use the site without an account, results are kept only in your own browser and never reach us. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To provide the service you signed up for, including progress tracking: performance of a contract.
- To take payment and keep financial records: contract and legal obligation.
- To keep the service secure and prevent misuse: legitimate interests.
- To email you about your account. We send marketing only if you ask for it, and you can stop it at any time.
Children
Accounts are for parents and carers aged 18 or over. You create and control your children’s profiles, and you can edit or delete them at any time from your account page. We do not profile children, show them advertising or sell anyone’s data.
Who we share data with
Only the companies that run parts of the service for us, under contracts that protect your data:
- Supabase (accounts and database)
- Stripe (payments)
- Vercel (website hosting)
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, transfers are covered by UK adequacy regulations or the UK’s approved data transfer agreements.
How long we keep it
- Account, children and results: while your account is open. Close it from your account page and they are deleted immediately.
- Payment records: 6 years, as UK tax law requires.
Cookies and counting visits
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and the browser storage needed to save practice part-way through. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
We count page views through Vercel Analytics so we know which pages people find useful. It sets no cookies, stores no identifier on your device and cannot follow you to other websites, which is why there is no consent banner to click. It tells us that a page was viewed, not who viewed it.
Your rights
You can download a copy of everything we hold, and close your account and delete all of it, from your account page without asking anyone. Closing an account also cancels any subscription straight away.
You can also ask us to correct your data, or object to how we use it. Email hello@preparefortests.com and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
